I don't usually receive any letter in the mail except friends' wedding invitation I already knew about it. I do everything such as paying phone bills, reviewing bank statement etc ... online. Still, I receive a lot of credit cards offer in the mail. I HATE them. It's so frustrating because I receive it from the same company over and over again. At least I receive 3 or 4 of them every week. Some of them are so tricky that they send it in a nice envelope without the name of the sender hoping you'd open it right away. I can't tell you how many times I have been fooled and opened them and then get disappointed. Others have the convincing statement like "D... YOU ARE PRE-APPROVED..." on the envelope. They make the letters so big and colorful. But I am more careful now and anything that looks suspicious will go directly to the recycling paper bag we have without opening them.
I'd like to know why they keep sending me these offers. A possible reason maybe that I have a good credit score (why is this available for them to see anyway?) This has been going on for at least 3 years and I have never called them back or given in. If I were interested, they would have heard back from me by now. Don't they get the message -- I am not interested!!!
It's like in the world of dating (I can' believe I am bringing this up). If a guy/girl wants to go out with someone and initiate something (calling, texting, talking ...) but too little or no response at all, they usually give up because they automatically get the message that there is no interest. I wish these credit card company understood that too. I wish they kept track of who hasn't responded and would stop wasting ink and paper to protect the environment.
So I found out something online after digging a bit to stop this. I can go to this website and make my credit score not available to these companies/opt-out from receiving these offers.
This is the link
https://www.optoutprescreen.com/. We will see if it stops it.
I also found another website
http://www.greendimes.com/ to stop receiving junk mail and stuff. I will use these two to see if it works. I have done some research these 2 are pretty legitimate.
